Why Alpha Sigma Tau, You Ask?
Have you ever thought of going GREEK??
Joining a sorority means not only having fun at social events and activities, but being with a group of girls who become your sisters and who are there for you no matter what. A sorority fosters growth and personal development among its members, as well as lifelong bonds. We participate informal recruitment in the fall and campus wide formal recruitment in the spring semester. In addition, we also recruit informally and meet with potential new members interested in becoming a sister. We're happy to meet with you for java, lunch at the caf or off campus or at one of our events, which is a great way of getting to know the sorority.
If you are interested, or curious about Alpha Sigma Tau or sororities in general, feel free to add our Recruitment Director, Katherine Vasquez on Facebook or contact her below. She's more than happy to meet with you and answer any questions you might have. You can also find us on Facebook, and keep up with our events.
Thank you for your interest in Alpha Sigma Tau. We hope to see you at some of our events!

What kind of girl is an AST girl?
There is no specific "type" of an Alpha Sigma Tau woman. Selection of new members is based on the individual, not a cookie-cutter mold. The sisters of our sorority are active in our community, they focus on academics, are social and they care for humankind. Alpha Sigma Tau is the sum total of our membership; its progress and its achievements are determined by the ability and quality of its members. Each semester, we redefine what values we would like most to find in our new members and what qualities they can contribute to the future of our sorority.
ZERO TOLERANCE for HAZING.
Not only does the AST national organization prohibit hazing, but it is also not tolerated at St. Mary's University at all. The sisters of AST do not participate in any activity that constitutes hazing whether subtle/evasive, harassing, or hazardous. Hazing is defined as any activity that causes mental anguish or physical discomfort, actions which endanger life or have the potential of causing bodily harm. We do not believe in hazing and we do not believe that hazing is what bonds of sisterhood should be based on. Our new members are treated with the utmost respect and we do everything we can to make them feel comfortable and accepted into our sisterhood.
Which Sorority is the right fit for me?
Choosing a sorority is a life-long decision and can be a very difficult decision to make. The process of deciding on a sorority should be well thought out and not taken lightly. Once you get to know the different sororities on campus, you will be able to see who you seem to get along with the best and you can get to know each of their philanthropies and endeavors. It is a decision that will ultimately come from the heart, and many girls can “feel” where they fit in the best.
