Philanthropy
We support a total of three philanthropies as well as doing other service projects within the community. Our national philanthropy is Pine Mountain Settlement School, which is a school that provides "enivronmental education and educational support" to the students at the local schools. Our national service project is Habitat for Humanity, which is a worldwide program that builds houses for families in need of decent housing. Their mission statement says, "Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope." Our local philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness, in which we dedicate certain weeks in both the fall and spring semesters. We raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and we participate in Race for the Cure. We participate within fundraisers on campus with both Greeks and Non-Greeks alike. We support such things as Lambda Chi Alpha Watermelon Bash, which donates to the San Antonio Food Bank; and, Alpha Phi's Penny Wars that supports the Alpha Phi Foundation.
